Covid cases in India cross 13lakh mark

Four proactively testing states make up for 60% of India's new Coronavirus caseload India has surpassed the 13lakh mark for the coronavirus cases by recording 48,896 new cases on Friday alone. The surge in Covid19 cases was led by four fairly rich states   Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka   by contributing as much as 60 per cent of the new case load on Friday. Together, the top four states in the list have recorded 29,554 cases on Friday, while the rest of the country accounted. WOMAN ENDS LIFE OVER DOWRY DEMAND

A 25yearold woman who was allegedly facing dowry harassment from her husband and inlaws died by suicide at her house in Harshaguda in Pahadishareef on Sunday night. The Pahadishareef police said the victim, It Roja, 25, mother of a fourmonthold baby girl and a twoyearold son, was living along with her husband R. Veeresh, a private employee, and her inlaws at Harshaguda. Her father S. Hanuma, a farmer from Manchal mandal in Ranga Reddy district, lodged a complaint alleging dowry harassment and murder by Veeresh and his family members. Hanuma alleged in his complaint alleged that despite giving Z6 lakh cash, 15 tolas gold and household articles as dowry during the marriage in 2017, Veeresh and his parents were demanding additional dowry of Z3 lakh. As he could not give money, they harassed his daughter mentally and Physically, leading to her death, he said. On a day India recorded its highestever 37,242 Covid19 cases, Andhra Pradesh has reported a record spike of 3,963 cases in a single day. Andhra Pradesh has registered 44,609 cases so far, and the toll stands at 586 with 52 deaths being repot• ed on Monday. The state has tested a total of 12,84,384 samples. Telangana state reported 1,284 fresh cases of Covid19, and the total stands at 42,496. The state has tested 2,52,700 samples. Nationwide, the number of cases stood at 10,76,260 and it is expected that the tally will cross the 11lakh mark on Sunday. The number of deaths stood at 26,824, up by 543. Veteran Kannada film actor Hulvana Gangadharaiah died due to Covid•19 in a private hospital, hospital sources said on Saturday. Maharashtra crossed the three•lakh mark during the day, and the state now has a tally of 3,00,937 cases and 11,596 deaths.
